The mid-term review of the 3rd Joint Commission for Cooperation (JCC) between Seychelles  and South Africa was held from October 16 to 17, 2023 in Pretoria at the department of International Relations.

Seychelles was represented by a delegation of senior officials from various ministries, departments and agencies, led by the resident high commissioner, Claude Morel.

The South African delegation was headed by Ambassador Tebogo Seokolo, acting deputy director general for Africa.

The two-day meeting, which was co-chaired by High Commissioner Morel and the director for Horn of Africa and Indian Ocean Islands, Bulelwa Kiva, allowed both parties to undertake a review of progress made as well as challenges faced in the implementation of the decisions taken at ministerial level during the 3rd JCC, concluded in Seychelles in October 2022.

They deliberated and agreed on timelines leading to the complete implementation of the various cross-sectoral decisions taken in consolidating and cementing the already dynamic, solid and excellent Seychelles-South Africa bilateral relations before the 4th JCC to be held in 2024.

Both parties also agreed to sign 14 memoranda of understanding and agreements in areas of priority, such as Fisheries, Agriculture, Blue Economy, Tourism, Health and Trade and Investment, during the 4th JCC in 2024.
