Two wins in two races for Mario Ernesta
- VCDL dedicate team victory to late fan Bertrand Morel
Following his exploit in the first race hosted by l’Union Cyclists des Seychelles after the resumption of competition following the 11th Indian Ocean Islands Games, Mario Ernesta of the North Coast Riders once again led the pack during the second race –
a 13km individual time trial – finishing first, while the Vélo Club de l’Ouest, once again, emerged as the best team.
The Vélo Club de l’Ouest (VCDL) team have dedicated the victory to one of their loyal fans, the late Bertrand Morel who recently passed away.
For the race, which started at Roche Caïman, the cyclists headed east, via the Providence Highway until the Seychelles International Airport where they went round before heading down via the same route to end where they started, covering a distance of 13km.
Ernesta clocked the best time, finishing first in 17 minutes 18 seconds (17:18), ahead of second-placed Ahmad Arissol of the VCDL who was second in 17:50.
Jean-Yves Souyave, also of the North Coast Riders (NCR) was third overall in 18:02, ahead of Jayden Sinon of the VCDL who was fourth overall in 18:12.
Jahdel Gabriel and Stephen Belle of the VCDL were fifth and sixth in 18:39 and 18:43 respectively, ahead of Jeff Esparon of the Option Max Cycling Club (OMCC) who clocked 19:15 to finish seventh overall.
Veteran rider Ricky Rosalie of the NCR registered the eighth best time of the time trial – 20:02 – ahead of young cadet rider Trevor Malvina of the VCDL Academy who finished ninth overall in 20:12.
Chris Uzice of the VCDL was tenth overall in 20:22.
