Showcase talents through gala cultural programme
The high commission of India organised a gala cultural programme at the ICCS auditorium on Wednesday evening to celebrate the upcoming 77th Independence Day of India.
The hour-long programme included performances of popular Indian dance forms such as Bharatanatayam, Kuchipudi, Odissi and Garba in addition to vocal and instrumental performances.
The performances were prepared by members of the Indian diaspora.
The high commission also awarded prizes to the winners of ‘Yoga My Pride’ competition organised on the occasion of International Day of Yoga 2023. Prizes were also given out for the Art competition on the theme ‘What freedom/independence means to me’ organised on the occasion of India’s Independence Day.
An exhibition showcasing winning entries from the ‘Yoga My Pride’ photography contest and art competition were also displayed in the lobby of the ICCS.
Conveying Independence Day greetings to the members of Indian diaspora and friends of India present for the occasion, high commissioner of India, Kartik Pande, spoke about the journey of India’s progress since independence and the ever important position she occupies in the world today, while also highlighting the warm and cordial India-Seychelles relations.
The various performances were prepared by members of the Indian diaspora and appreciated by an audience of 400 people including the Seychelles’ Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Sylvestre Radegonde, senior officials of the government of Seychelles, members of the diplomatic corps, Indian diaspora and locals.
