Football: National Champions League |03 June 2023

Champions may be known this afternoon

Stad Amitié on Praslin may this afternoon unveil this season’s winners of the National Champions League when leaders Foresters cross the sea to meet inner island side Côte d’Or who are presently second overall.

With only one match left to play, Foresters are presently leading the ranking on 25 points from seven wins, four draws and two defeats out of 13 matches played, while Côte d’Or have garnered 23 points from six wins, five draws and a single defeat out of 12 matches played.

A win this afternoon for either team will crown them as champions, while a draw would mean that the title will be decided at a later date.

A win for Foresters will earn them three more points – 28 –, and a five-point advantage over Côte d’Or, who despite a win in their last match will still fall short by two points, as they will finish on 26 points.

As for the Praslin side, who still have a match in hand, a win this afternoon will bring their points tally to 26, allowing them to leapfrog Foresters by one point, thus earning them the title.

However, in case of a draw this afternoon, we will have to wait until next Friday – June 9 – when Côte d’Or will play their last league match against PTL Bazar Brothers at Stad Amitié.

A win for Côte d’Or will bring their total to 27 and earn them the title, while either a draw or a defeat will end the title campaign of the Praslin side.
