Six local coaches attempt licence A

As part of its continuous efforts to be in compliance with the requirements and standards set by the Confédération Africaine de Football for all member associations, while boosting capacity building, the Seychelles Football Federation is presently hosting a level A coaching course, gathering six local trainers.

Level A is the highest level of coaching license attainable on the continent, and it is the longest in terms of studying.

It is divided in two weeks known as Module One (first week) and Module Two (second week).

In accordance with the Confédération Africaine de Football (Caf), only ‘A’ license holders are required to handle proceedings in Caf competitions, precisely the Caf Confederations Cup and Caf Champions League.

The training which consists of theoretical and practical sessions is being conducted by newly accredited instructors Ralph ‘Tiapout’ Jean-Louis and technical director – directeur technique national (DTN) – Osama Haroun.

It was officially launched yesterday by the vice-president of the Seychelles Football Federation (SFF) Dolor Ernesta, in the presence of chief executive Denis Rose.

The six coaches attempting the Caf A license are Slim William, Donald Monnaie, Basil Hoareau, Nicholas Carloz, Gerard Bistoquet and Jemmy Lemiel.

It was in 2009 that Caf launched one of its most important programmes to date, notably the coaching licensing system.

The programme seeks to set and promote benchmarks regarding coaching on the continent and helps recognise African coaches for their knowledge and experience.

The Caf coaching licensing system serves as a platform to evaluate coaches and to inject more professionalism into the art of coaching, aimed at reaching homogeneous and high professional standards.

One of the key objectives will be to ensure that each African coach or any coach operating in Africa possesses the relevant license to perform his or her duties.
