Satisfying 2022 season for Seychelles cricket

The Seychelles Cricket Association recently hosted its annual general meeting at the Seychelles Trading Company conference room, gathering over 75 members who were briefed by chairman Kaushal Patel on the achievements of the past year and also on the plans for the upcoming year.

The future plans include further development of the Persévérance ground, continuous kids’ cricket development and possible international women's cricket.

Members were also guided through the financial statement for the year 2022 by the treasurer of the association, Shanmugam Tharmenthiran, prior to adoption, following several clarifications.

A detailed presentation on the executive committee's achievements for the year 2022 by Bhavesh Goswami which included cricket field development at Persévérance, activities conducted for junior, men’s and women’s cricket development, number of matches played during the year and media coverage for each events was also on the programme, alongside a feedback on the national team who took part in the International Cricket Council (ICC) tournament last year, including the  team’s selection process and details of the training plan.

This was done by team managers Aruna Hathurusinghe and Suranga Fernando.

The meeting concluded with a presentation ceremony where various awards were presented, including awards for best players for the year 2022.

In the women’s category, the awards went to Manisha Kanbi, Geeta Hirani and Malshini Senaratne for being first , second and third respectively, while for the men, Thimeera Madusanka (Sanka), D K Karthikkili and Md Mazharul Islam were awarded for being first, second and third  respectively.

The award for the femal cricketer of the year went to Manisha Kanbi, while the men’s title was won by Thimeera Madusanka.

There were also awards of recognition for the Seychelles cricket team players, while the GSP7 A team were awarded as team of the year for winning maximum trophies during the 2022 season.

Tournament directors Deepak Radhakrishnan, Hitesh Hirani and Thiwanka Rajapaksha also received awards of appreciation, along with special appreciation awards for Aruna Hathurusinghe for conducting umpiring coaching session during 2022.
