The promise of endless summer dazzled partners at the world’s largest and leading travel trade show, ITB Berlin (Internationale Tourismus-Börse), held at the Berlin Exhibition Grounds in parallel to the renowned ITB Berlin Convention.

This year’s three-day event starting on March 7, under the slogan ‘Open for Change’, took place as a pure business-to-business (B2B) event and received around 90,127 attendees from more than 180 countries.

The Seychelles delegation was headed by Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism Sylvestre Radegonde, accompanied by the director general for destination marketing at Tourism Seychelles, Bernadette Willemin.

They were joined by representatives of the local travel trade, including partners selling the Seychelles product based in some European countries such as France, UK, Switzerland, as well as partners from some Asian and African countries.

All representing companies like Creole Travel Services; 7° South, Mason’s Travel (PTY) LTD; STORY Seychelles; Anantara Maia Seychelles, Berjaya Hotels & Resorts, Blue Safari Seychelles (Alphonse Resort), Savoy Resort & Spa and Coral Strand Hotel, Silhouette Cruises, Hilton Seychelles Resort & Spa, Paradise Sun, Laila – A Tribute Portfolio Resort, Luxe Voyage (LV Holidays), Kempinski Seychelles Resort, VPM Yacht Charter, and Fisherman's Cove Resort.

The delegation also comprised Christian Zerbian, Tourism Seychelles’ representative for Germany and Austria and senior officers from Tourism Seychelles headquarters, Dominique Sabino and Lizanne Moncherry.

The Seychelles delegation had the opportunity to reconnect with their German partners while engaging with potential buyers.

“It was important to reinforce Seychelles’ presence as a favourite German destination, and we are quite satisfied with our representation at ITB this year. I must thank our local partners who made the effort to join us on the stand and beat the drum with us to attract visitors to our beautiful destination. Like all our traditional markets, Germany is not only one of our main source markets but an exclusive one,” said Mrs Willemin.

Aside from ITB Berlin, the Seychelles team also attended several meetings with its partners.

With 7,125 visitors recorded from January till March 5, Germany is the third best source market for Seychelles and was the number one market for 2022.
