Ahmad Arissol maintains form with third win out of four races
- Vélo Club de l’Ouest remain the best team
Ahmad Arissol, well on form at the moment, remains the cyclist to look out for this season after winning his third race out of four organised by the Seychelles Cycling Association since the beginning of this season, while his team ‒ Vélo Club de l’Ouest (VCDL) ‒ still lead the standings, having secured the top spot in all four races.
After winning the 65km circuit race and the 13km individual time trial, Arissol once again reigned supreme on Wednesday, winning the fourth race of the season which was a 30km circuit race.
The race took place at Persévérance, and the cyclists had to endure 30 laps round the housing estate to cover exactly 30km.
Having the race at Persévérance was part of the Seychelles Cycling Association’s (SCA) strategy to bring the sport closer to the community, and according to Arissol who is also the SCA chairperson, the response was very good, with a large crowd gathering round the course to cheer and support the riders.
For Wednesday’s race, Arissol covered the 30km in 45 minutes 43 seconds (45:43), finishing first by outsprinting teammate Stephane Belle who was second, also in 45:43, a time which was also shared by third-placed Bertrand Lesperance who rides for the Option Max Cycling Club (OMCC).
Edrick Roucou of the Northern Cycling Riders (NCR) was fourth overall in 45:44, finishing ahead of Jayden Sinon of the VCDL who finished fifth, also in 45.44, a time shared by six other cyclists, namely Dominic Arrisol (One Shot Pain Cycling Club – OSPCC), Jahdel Gabriel (VCDL), Yohan Monthy (OMCC), Leeroy Labiche (OMCC), Ricky Rosalie (NCR), and Mario Ernesta (NCR) who were sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth, 10th, and 11th respectively.
Chris Uzice of the VCDL Academy was the 12th cyclist to cross the finish line, clocking 45:52 to finish in front of teammate Lauren Jacques who took the 13th position with a time of 47:46.
Trevor Malvina and Ashley Toussaint, also of the VCDL Academy were the 14th and 15th riders to cross the finish line, both clocking 47.46.
With an accumulated time of 2 hours 17 minutes 10 seconds (2h17:10), the VCDL once again emerged as the best team, finishing ahead of the OMCC who were the runners-up in 2h17:11.
The NCR finished third overall, accumulating 12h17:12, while the VCDL Academy finished fourth with a cumulative time of 2h19:24.
