Seychelles shares its experiences at World Governments Summit
The Minister for Agriculture, Climate Change and Environment, Flavien Joubert, who is part of Seychelles’ delegation at the World Governments Summit in Dubai, has shared the country’s experiences in three different high-level events related to climate change, disaster risk management and the blue economy.
In his interventions, Minister Joubert informed the delegates about the challenges faced by the country.
He also highlighted the financial and human resource challenges of small islands and encouraged other countries to demonstrate the same level of commitment as Seychelles when it comes to sustainability, ocean protection, and engagement with regard to global initiatives to protect and better manage our environment.
“We need technical and financial support to effectively tackle climate change, disaster risks and economic sustainability,” Minister Joubert stressed.
The World Governments Summit is an annual global event which brings together world leaders, policymakers, experts and innovators to discuss the future of governance and public administration. The summit is being convened under the theme ‘Shaping future governments’.
The summit focuses on key global challenges, including climate change, technology, economic development, artificial intelligence, public health, and sustainable governance. Governments globally have a platform to share their experiences, exchange knowledge and promote innovative solutions to enhance government efficiency and policy-making worldwide.
The World Governments Summit 2025 is a crucial platform for Seychelles to voice its perspectives on global governance challenges and share best practices. As Seychelles continues to champion environmental and economic sustainability, its participation reaffirms the country’s commitment to global collaboration, resilience-building, and blue economy leadership.
Besides Minister Joubert, the Ministry of Agriculture, Climate Change and Environment is being represented at the summit by the principal secretary for Environment, Denis Matatiken.
