‘Let us rededicate ourselves to the task of promoting and protecting the rights of women’ |08 March 2023
“The United Seychelles Party joins the concert of wishes to recognise and celebrate the contributions and achievements of all women in Seychelles.
“This year’s international women’s day is celebrated under the theme ‘DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality’. This theme recognises and celebrates the women and girls who are championing the advancement of transformative technology and digital education.
“On this day, let us rededicate ourselves to the task of promoting and protecting the rights of women. For many years now, Seychelles has made long strides towards women empowerment and gender equality. The struggle for women emancipation is nevertheless far from over and we must continue to provide equal opportunities for all women.
“Women must be able to fully participate in the decision-making process. The political arena remains one of the most difficult public sphere for women to enter into. The United Seychelles party commits to the advancement of women’s participation in the democratic process at all levels of governance.
“The United Seychelles party takes this opportunity to also thank all women for their heroic contributions throughout the many years. Let us continue to build on the fraternity and trust as we forge the way for a better Seychelles.
“Women are the backbone of the family and the bedrock of a nation. Wishing them a happy women’s day!”
Dr Patrick Herminie, president of the United Seychelles party
