Minister Laporte and Lisa Singh unveil the Port Control Unit plaque
The Victoria Port Control Unit was officially inaugurated yesterday morning during a ceremony held at the SRC Customs House at the Seaport.
The new facility is expected to strengthen border security, improve trade safety, and enhance Seychelles’ role in regional and international security efforts.
The unit brings together officers from several agencies, including the Seychelles Revenue Commission (SRC), Seychelles Police Force, Seychelles Ports Authority (SPA) and biosecurity services, to work side by side. It is part of a global programme implemented by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the World Customs Organisation (WCO), which operates in more than 80 countries.
