MUA CEOs pay courtesy call on President Ramkalawan |25 February 2023
The newly appointed group chief executive of the Mauritius Union Assurance Group, Joerg Weber, and the country chief executive Naresh Gokulsing paid a courtesy call on President Wavel Ramkalawan yesterday at State House.
They were accompanied by the manager of the Seychelles Branch, Emilio Freminot, and the Group International Partnerships manager Madoo Ramakrishna.
After the meeting with the President, Mr Weber shared that they explained to the head of state who they are as MUA group and what are their plans for Seychelles.
“We are a local player and not a big one. But we can bring more expertise to Seychelles as we are part of a bigger group. The President explained that there are several issues on his mind such as health insurance and other types of insurance linked to natural catastrophes. We discussed if we can bring in innovations.”
Mr Freminot noted that “MUA Seychelles has been serving the market since 2011, with a focus on general insurance products for individual and business clients. The Seychelles operations is managed and staffed by a dedicated and professional team of Seychellois. Mr Freminot also shared that the discussion with President Ramkalawan was mainly around innovations and how they are not here to wipe other competitors.
Mr Gokulsing, country CEO Mauritius, shared that they are present in six countries – Kenya, Tanzania, Mauritius, Uganda, Seychelles and Rwanda . “We are here since 18 years, and we will be here for a long term. We want to bring more expertise in order to help the financial market. With our parametric products we can insure the farmers who have issues with flooding and also with other stakeholders.”
