2023 travel trends look favourable for the Seychelles |14 February 2023

Based on research, the Seychelles' prospects for increased tourism arrivals in 2023 appear promising.

The team conducted research to gather, analyse, and identify travel trends for 2023. As tourism figures have boomed in 2022 (with more than 335,000 visitors), we wanted to know whether our system would help the Seychelles meet its tourism targets for 2023.

From the research, we have concluded the following:

Biometrics are here to stay. They will replace paper documents and cut down on wait times, allowing airlines and airports to give passengers the smoothest travel experience possible. Soon, more countries will start using the system.

Travellers want to do things in advance: Less and less people want to queue up at the airport. Tourists want to get out of an airport as quickly and with as little hassle as possible. This will allow all the passengers to be screened before boarding and will lead to a reduction in queues, the use of fewer resources on arrival, and the early identification of high-risk passengers.

Travelling with confidence: Covid-19 is still in the back of a traveller's mind before a trip. Before leaving the comfort of their own home, they want to know the rules of their destination, what documents are required, and be certain that they will not be turned away at the border or subject to surprise quarantine. With the Seychelles Electronic Border System, you can access all this information and submit the required documents on a single platform.

Although other trends were identified, the above truly resonates with us and makes us proud, as our system will indeed help Seychelles meet its targets and will help set the destination apart from its competitors, especially in the region.
