Judo SJF to host EGM to adjust and approve constitution prior to AGM |05 January 2023
The Seychelles Judo Federation will host an extraordinary general meeting on Saturday January 21 to go over and amend its constitution prior to its annual general meeting which will be held on the following weekend – Saturday January 28.
The extraordinary general meeting (EGM) will be the opportunity for members to work on, and amend the Seychelles Judo Federation’s (SJF) constitution as per the new official requirements.
As for the annual general meeting (AGM), it will feature the election of a new chairman, following the passing of previous chairman Terrence Barbé on December 31 last year.
It is to note that the late Mr Barbé was controversially elected into the position in 2021, along with only three executive committee members, thus failing to come up with a complete executive committee.
Mr Barbé, who at the time was the director for sports management and development within the National Sports Council (NSC), won the election after contesting as a member of the Baie Ste Anne judo club.
He replaced Mervin Joubert who had been in the post for the previous three years with only Terry Mothé (referees’ director), Brigitte Cesar (media and communication – replacing Kenneth Pointe) and Telsia King (discipline representative) as associates.
The posts of vice-chairman (previously occupied by Paddy King), secretary general (previously occupied by Sandra Jeanne), treasurer (previously occupied by Jenna Finesse), sports director (previously occupied by Henry Moustache) and coaches’ representative (previously occupied by Naddy Jeanne) remained vacant.
