Understanding the FIA – Motorsport, mobility and global governance

When people hear the term FIA, most immediately think of Formula 1.

While Formula 1 is one of the championships governed by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile, the organisation itself is far broader than motorsport alone.

The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), founded in 1904 and headquartered in Paris, is the global governing body for motorsports and one of the world’s leading organisations in mobility, road safety and sustainable transport.
