Gran Kaz donates essential items and goodies to the children at Foyer de la Providence |23 December 2022
Three days before Christmas, Gran Kaz appeared at the doors of Foyer de la Providence (St Elizabeth) armed with boxes of essential items and a few goodies for the children who live there.
With so many small children in their care, many under the age of four, the orphanage is constantly in need of items such as formula and diapers, two of the things that babies go through the fastest.
This is exactly what Gran Kaz provided. Alongside boxes of milk, and diapers, they also came bearing baby shampoo, powder, cartons of fruit juice, yoghurts and some educational games for the slightly older children.
“We are always looking for ways in which we can be a community player. We know that the orphanages depend a lot on the support of outside parties to be able to care and provide for all the children there. Last year the donations we made to the orphanage were staff driven, with many of the items coming from individuals’ homes, or personal pockets. This gesture was so heart-warming that this year Gran Kaz decided to continue this spirit of giving by funding all the items,” says Shama Amesbury, PR and communications manager at Gran Kaz.
Speaking at the handover, Sister Sylvette thanked Gran Kaz for their generosity, saying this kind of support goes a long way to ensuring the children are well cared for.
While we may argue that there isn’t, nor should there be, just one particular time of the year for giving to the community, its undeniable that Christmas has been branded as the time for gifting and by extension the time for giving.
“There’s just something about Christmas that makes you realise just how much you have to be thankful for, this gratitude also makes you realise that not everyone has what you have, and when you are in a position to give to someone in need you don’t hesitate. Because no matter how small the gift or gesture may seem, you never know just how much this means to the receiver,” says Ms Amesbury.
