Cascade Bullets shoot down Praslin Boys to book top flight spot

After failing to qualify for the finals of the men’s division two play-offs, thus missing out on automatic promotion to the top flight, Cascade Bullets finally secured their spot in division one next season after winning their third-place match 65-57 over Praslin boys on Sunday at Victoria Gymnasium.

They join champions Anse Etoile and runners-up AB Boys to top up division one from seven to 10 teams.

In Sunday’s match, still without their key player Hansley Bristol, Bullets remained focus in their quest to the top flight, winning the first quarter 17-15, before winning the second period of the match 21-14 to lead 38-29 at half-time.

Also in search of promotion, Praslin improved their game in the quarter to outscore Bullets 18-11, reducing their lead to 49-47 at the end of the period.

More eager to play first division basketball next season, Cascade Bullets came out stronger in the fourth and final quarter, winning it 16-10 for a 65-57 final score to book their top flight spot.

Captain Eddie Biong had the hot hands for Bullets with 31 points, while Sandro Souffe and Jackson Auguste each scored 13 points to lead the scoring for Praslin Boys.

Bullets will be in action again next week, this time against St Louis Saints who walked-over Mont Fleuri Ballerz in group A of the Land Marine Cup, while Praslin Boys have decided not take part in the competition due to financial constraints.
