President announces new Defence Forces Council By Laura Pillay |31 October 2022
Following recent promotions and changes within the structure of the Seychelles Defence Forces (SDF), President and Commander in Chief Wavel Ramkalawan on Saturday announced the new Defence Forces Council.
This was at the first convening of the new Council at State House.
The President himself chairs the Council. Other members include Chief of Defence Forces Brigadier Michael Rosette, Chief of Staff Colonel Jean Attala, Seychelles Defence Forces Land Force Commander Lieutenant Colonel Michael Hollanda, Acting Commander of the Seychelles Coast Guard Lieutenant Colonel David Arrisol, and Lieutenant Colonel Didace Hoareau who is in charge of training for the force.
Additionally, Special Forces Unit Lieutenant Colonel Archille Mondon, and secretary to the Council, Lieutenant Colonel Allain Pierre, are also members.
The Commanding Officer of the Seychelles Air Force Major Rodney Zarine, who is currently on overseas training, is also as a member of the Council.
The Defence Forces Council usually meets on a monthly basis to discuss issues relating to the SDF, defence and security.
Vice-President Ahmed Afif also attends the meetings.
