Newly accredited HC of Pakistan calls on deputy Speaker of the National Assembly   |17 October 2022

The newly accredited high commissioner (HC) of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the Republic of Seychelles, Muhammed Arshad Jan, paid a courtesy call on the deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Gervais Henrie, last Thursday.

Deputy Speaker Henrie was accompanied by the Clerk to the National Assembly, Tania Isaac.

During the meeting, both the HC and deputy Speaker discussed areas of cooperation between the two countries including trade, parliamentary diplomacy, political leadership and maritime security.

In addition, the HC stated that Seychelles and Pakistan will be aiming to sign various MoUs in different areas of cooperation.

The seputy Speaker informed Mr Arshad Jan that the Speaker of the National Assembly of Seychelles, Hon. Roger Mancienne, is presently heading a delegation to the Inter-Parliamentary Union general assembly in Rwanda and has accepted the invitation for a side meeting with the delegation from Pakistan.

Mr Arshad Jan discussed the possibility of parliamentary exchanges between the two parliaments to build partnerships and network to foster solidarity.

HC Arshad Jan also paid a courtesy call on the leader of the opposition, Hon. Sebastien Pillay.
