Seven swimmers at continental junior championship
Seychelles is being represented at the 13th African Swimming Confederation (Cana) Junior championship which is taking place in Tunis, Tunisia by a team of seven swimmers.
The competition, which will go until September 15, is considered as a springboard for the development of future champions and also given that Seychelles is hosting the World Junior Open Water in August 2020, our open water swimmers will be able to showcase their talents and progress.
The championship which is divided into two age categories – G1 (Born in 2005 and 2006 and G2 (Born in 2003 and 2004) also features a 5km open water race.
The Seychelles swimming team, who left the country last Sunday and are expected back on September 17, are being led by Vanessa Narty.
The team are made up of Therese Soukup – 50m and 100m backstroke, 100m, 200m, 400m and 800m freestyle and 5km open water (G2), Khema Elizabeth – 50m and 100m backstroke, 50m breaststroke, 50m, 100m and 200m freestyle, 50m butterfly and 5km open water (G1), Tyler Fred – 100m and 200m backstroke, 50m butterfly, 50m and 400m freestyle 5km open water (G2), Damien Payet – 200m, 400m and 1500m freestyle, 200m butterfly, 400m individual medley and 5km open water (G2), Alain Vidot – 50m butterfly, 400m, 50m, 100m and 1500m freestyle and 5km open water (G2),Nathan Nagapin – 50m, 100m butterfly, 200m individual medley, 50m breaststroke, 50m, 100m freestyle, 50m backstroke and 5km open water (G1) and Aaliyah Palestrini – 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke, 50m butterfly, 50m, 100m freestyle and 200m individual medley (G2).
Team Seychelles will also compete in the relays.
