PLS Suns are now sixth overall on the league table

Cascade Bullets climb into second place with win over MBU Boys

 

Contenders Cascade Bullets are now second on the men’s division two league table, leapfrogging Praslin Boys and Anse Etoile, following their 72-59 victory over MBU Boys on Monday at Victoria Gymnasium.

Bullets are now on 28 points from 12 wins and four defeats out of 16 matches played, while the defeat keeps MBU Boys ninth on 18 points from 14 defeats and two wins out of 16 matches played.

Bullets narrowly won the first quarter 14-11, before losing the second one 14-19 to trail MBU Boys 28-30 at half-time.

It was only in the third quarter that Cascade Bullets of coach Biko Biong stepped up their game and differentiate themselves from MBU Boys, winning 27-9 for a 55-39 lead.

Entering the fourth and final quarter with a comfortable lead, Bullets managed to score 17 more points, and even if MBU Boys added in another 20, Bullets’ advantage from their third quarter exploit was enough to keep them ahead, winning the match 72-59.

Hensley Bristol was Bullets’ top scorer with 22 points, while Eddy Olivia had the hot hands for MBU Boys with 24 points.

In the other match played in the division, sixth-placed PLS Suns defeated the Bel Air Basketball Academy (Baba) 93-50, leaving Baba at the bottom of the table.

Suns have now garnered 22 points from six wins and ten defeats out of 16 matches played, while tail-enders Baba are on 17 points from only two wins and 13 defeats out of 15 matches played.

Against the young Baba team, PLS Suns completely dominated the match, winning the first quarter 21-8, before clinching the second one 27-9 for a comfortable 48-17 lead at half-time.

Suns were again dominant in the third quarter, winning it 26-16, before slowing down in the final and last quarter which they again won 19-17 for a huge 93-50 victory.

Selwyn Denise had the hot hands for PLS Suns with 24 points, while captain Oneal Laval led the scoring for Baba with 17 points.

Meanwhile, Anse Boileau-based AB Boys are leading the standings on 30 points from 14 wins and two defeats out of 16 matches played, while Praslin Boys are third on 28 points from 12 wins and four defeats after 16 games played.

Anse Etoile who have accumulated 27 points after 12 wins and three defeats out of 15 matches played are fourth, ahead of Mont Fleuri Ballerz who are occupying the fifth overall spot on 22 points from seven wins and eight losses from 15 matches played.
