Various areas of cooperation discussed

A high level delegation from the Liaoning Provincial People’s Congress of China, led by Zhang Tiemin, yesterday held talks with the Mayor of Victoria, David Andre during which they explored different areas for future bilateralcooperation and exchanges between the two cities.

“It will give us the opportunity to enhance communication between the City of Victoria and Liaoning Province, to strengthen bilateral trade and investment, promote environment protection and to develop friendship between our two cities,” said Mr Zhang.

“As the world is getting smaller, it is very important for nations around the globe to be closer in order to help each other in every way possible to make the world better. Although Seychelles is a very small country and China is a very big country, you want to see what Seychelles can contribute. I hope that you will see what Seychelles has to offer so that we have more visitors to our shores and also have different exchanges in various areas such as culture, sports amongst others,” Mayor André remarked.

“As we are developing, Seychelles will need the assistance of China for more development,” noted Mr André.

Mr Zhang and Mr André also talked about collaboration in the development of sustainable energy, tourism and fisheries and explored ways to attract more Chinese investment into Seychelles.

They also discussed how to encourage friendly exchanges between the two cities to enable them to identify activities that can generate new initiatives to further nurture economic, social and cultural ties which Seychelles and China already share.
