No collusion between Seychelles NATION, Seychelles Police and State House |03 September 2022
There is absolutely no collusion or conspiracy between the Seychelles NATION newspaper, Seychelles Police and State House as reported by The Seychelles Independent newspaper in its August 30, 2022 issue.
In its lead story titled ‘The Police lied to protect State House’ on the front page of the said issue it is written that the Seychelles NATION newspaper contacted The Seychelles Independent newspaper for contact details of victims of a police raid and the next day the Seychelles NATION ran an article to say the police had carried out the raid without the police having released any (prior) public statement on the matter to the media.
It is because the police did not release any information on the incident that the Seychelles NATION newspaper first contacted deputy commissioner Francis Songoire and then police commissioner Ted Barbe for an interview. Mr Barbe agreed and told this newspaper to speak to deputy commissioner Songoire which we did and we came out with the article entitled ‘Police refute allegation of excessive use of force in Port Glaud raid’ on August 25, 2022.
The Seychelles Independent newspaper editor should rest assured that the Seychelles NATION newspaper does not function under anyone’s instructions and that no conspiracy is being engineered by this newspaper, the police and State House to protect the IBOU squad as stated in the same article published by The Seychelles Independent newspaper.
In fact, the Seychelles NATION newspaper will come out with more such articles if there are more raids with victims.
