Bérard Duprès re-appointed CEO of SBC |13 August 2022

Bérard Duprès has been re-appointed as the chief executive of the Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation (SBC) for a period of five years.

Pursuant to Section 5 (3) of the Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation (SBC) Amendment Act of 2017 in relation to the appointment of the chief executive officer of the SBC, President Wavel Ramkalawan received the recommendations of the SBC board of directors on August 1, 2022 and yesterday met with the Speaker of the National Assembly and the Chief Justice.

Following discussions and taking into consideration the recommendations of the SBC board of directors, the decision was taken that Bérard Duprès be reappointed for a period of five years.

The three heads of government expressed hope that the transformation of the SBC as the public broadcaster can continue to improve.

The inauguration of the SBC House within the next year will hopefully provide enhanced encouragement to the development of journalism in the country.

The three leaders echoed the wish of the people that there be more investigative journalism as the corporation continues to educate the people through news and local productions and present well researched documentaries, while providing entertainment to the people.

The three leaders will be meeting with the SBC board of directors and the CEO in the very near future.
