Two local selections at the continental rendez-vous
Seychelles is being represented at this year’s Confédération Africaine de Volleyball Senior Beach volleyball championship taking place in Agadir, Morocco from July 25 to August 2 by two selections.
Ricky Vel and Gerry Lozaïque will represent the country in the men’s competition, while long-time partners Angelique Adeline and Hillary Nourrice will play in the women’s tournament hosted by the Royal Moroccan Volleyball Federation.
Until yesterday night, Seychelles’ opponents were still to be determined, awaiting on the draws.
The players are being accompanied by coach François Magloire and chairman of the Seychelles Volleyball Federation (SVF) Ronald Wong.
First time playing as a duo at international level, Vel and Lozaique began their preparation for the tournament over a month ago on their own, before starting formal training with coach Magloire.
According to them, everything is going smoothly and they are ready to give their all to defend the national colours, and despite not knowing the level of the tournament and other selections, their mind is set and they are going all out to rub shoulders with their opponents from the continent.
As for Nourrice and Adeline, international competition is not new to them, and despite last minute entry and limited training time, they said they are both going all out to advance the furthest at the tournament.
