Danny Faure Foundation awards winners of World Oceans Day video message competition |09 June 2022

Winners of the United Nations World Oceans Day video message competition organised by the Danny Faure Foundation have been rewarded.

They received their certificate of participation and a token from the founder and chairman of the Foundation, former President of the Republic of Seychelles, Danny Faure, at a ceremony held recently.

The winners are Yan-Luc Morel, Aishwarya Kumar and Anush Kumar Velmurugan who are students from the International School Seychelles.

Also present at the ceremony were the executive director of the Danny Faure Foundation, Lorraine Faure, Edward Howart and Janet Figaro representing the International School Seychelles.

The winning video messages will feature on the communication platforms of the Oceans and Natural Resources in the Commonwealth Secretariat, Friends of Ocean Action of the World Economic Forum, La Francophonie and also on the Danny Faure Foundation’s website, YouTube channel, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn pages where they can be viewed by the public.

The competition was opened to students from all schools aged 13 to 17 years. The independent judging panel comprised Helena Sims, Jeanette Larue and Sheena Talma who are experts in their respective fields of environment protection, conservation, education and research.

Through this activity, the Foundation aims to contribute towards sensitising young people and raising public awareness on ocean protection for future generations.

The competition was held under the theme ‘Revitalisation: Collective Action for the Ocean’ to coincide with World Oceans Day which is commemorated on June 8.

Protecting the Ocean as the beating blue heart of our planet through good governance and promoting the Blue Economy as the next frontier of sustainable development are two pillars of the Danny Faure Foundation.
