Gran Kaz win clash of kings

 

Gran Kaz triumphed in the clash of kings in the T20 MSC / Enjoy Super league on Sunday at the Persévérance cricket ground.

In the morning match number 15 of division 1, Gran Kaz Kings won the crucial decider for the fourth position on the points table against Deevas Kings and confirmed their spot in the semi-finals.

Winning the toss Deevas Kings captain Deepak Radhakrishnan opted to bat first and they posted a score of 103/10 at the end of 20 overs with batsmen Mohan Murugesan 49(47) and Ragul Pillay 20(32).

Gran Kaz Kings’ bowlers Rohit and Arup Das grabbed 2 wickets each.

Upon chasing, Tom 18(20), Rohit 19(18) Neel 24(21) led the Gran Kaz Kings team to victory by 1 wicket in the last over of the match.

Bowlers Prabhu and Devibalan of Deevas grabbed 2 wickets each. Rohit of Gran Kaz Kings was selected as player-of-the-match for his all-round performance

During the morning match, players of the Seychelles Cricket Association observed a minute silence and paid tribute to Australian international cricketer Andrew Symonds who passed away in a single-vehicle car crash about 50km (31 miles) outside Townsville, Queensland the day before. Commonly known by the nickname ‘Roy’, Symonds was 46 years old and played all three formats as a batting all-rounder. He was an important member of two World Cup winning squads, playing as a right-handed, middle order batsman and alternated between medium pace and off-spin bowling. He was also notable for his exceptional fielding skills.

He retired from all forms of cricket in February 2012.

Meanwhile, in the afternoon’s division two match, SL United played against GSP 7 - A.

Winning the toss, captain Vakesh of GSP 7 - A opted to bat first. Despite losing early wickets, mid-order batsmen Ankith 21(24), Yakesh 18(24) and Bhavesh Hirani 15(8) managed to put up a score of 112/9 at the end of 20 overs with bowlers Thimeera, Sampatha and Supun of SL United grabbing 2 wickets each.

Upon chasing, SL United batsmen Mayura 30(23), Thimeera 38(33) and Supun 16(21) carried their team to a win at the 19th over. Bowlers Kothandam, Lijo and Selva took 1 wicket each.

Thimeera Madhusanka was selected as the player-of-the-match for his all-round performance.

Meanwhile, the two semifinals of the division one competition will be played tomorrow at the Persévérance cricket ground. In the morning, Vijay Warriors will play Lakstars and in the afternoon GSP 7 will meet Gran Kaz Kings.

The Seychelles Cricket Association welcomes all cricket lovers to support the ongoing tournament.
