Anse Royale businessman donates 50 LED lights to boost security in district   |24 March 2022

People living in different sub districts and communities in Anse Royale will soon see the darkest secondary roads and other unlighted spots in their communities brighten up now that a prominent businessman residing and doing business in the district has made another donation of 50 LED lights.

In a short ceremony at the district’s administration office last Friday afternoon, the donation from Gilbert Frichot, the owner of the company Mahé Design & Build, was handed over to the district’s member of the National Assembly (MNA) Sylvanne Lemiel by the company’s general manager Jalan Nathan. Mr Frichot made a first donation of 40 similar LED lights to the district in 2019 and these have all been installed.

Mr Jalan was accompanied for the hand-over by Ronny Renaud, the operations manager at the company. Also present to witness the event were acting district administrator Pamela Henriette, and Stephany Rosette, representative of the Seychelles Land Transport Agency (SLTA) which will be putting up the lights.

“This is quite a substantial donation as it will help provide more lighting at night and early morning for inhabitants coming home late from work and going to work in the early hours of the morning. People including foreign visitors will feel safer and secure when walking in the dark. With this donation altogether Mr Frichot has contributed 90 of such lights,” Mrs Lemiel noted.

‘’This is a great help for the district as security is one main aspect that we really care about,” Mrs Lemiel further remarked.

As a reward to Mr Frichot, Mrs Lemiel presented Mr Jalan with a shield as a gesture of appreciation and gratitude from the district.

Mr Jalan said the company is always very honoured and happy to be part of such corporate social responsibility initiatives.

“Anse Royale is very important for us as a company and it is where we are also building a hotel and already managing a restaurant ‒ Kafe Kreol ‒ and most of our work force obviously comes from the district and we are happy to contribute in their safety and security,” he added.

Meanwhile, MNA Lemiel said the new consignment of street lights will be installed where they are really needed as demands to boost security in the communities continue to increase as new housing estates and new roads are built, so does the need for more lighting to boost security and safety.
