Two members of the Seychelles Football Federation ‒ Clive Delorie, director of competitions and club licensing as well as Kerin Moses, administrative liaison and purchasing officer ‒ were to leave for South Africa yesterday to attend the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations’ UEFA Senior Team Executive Programme (STEP) workshop.

The four-day regional workshop, which aims to improve the leadership and interpersonal skills of senior executives in football organisations, is part of UEFA ASSIST ‒ a programme that supports football development within and beyond Europe.

The workshop will cover a number of key topics, including governance, leadership, strategic planning, financial and operational management, marketing and communications, as well as soft skills such as how to communicate and negotiate effectively, and how to create and deliver compelling presentations. It will offer participants a practical, systematic approach, using a number of management tools and best-practice examples to help improve the performance of the whole organisation.

Mr Delorie tells us that “the workshop encompasses different modules that are going to be of great interest to me, but competition management will be beneficial for me as we are in the process of professionalising our league with the assistance of UEFA, and as they are also collaborating with the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (Cosafa) to organise this workshop.

“I will also take this opportunity to gather any important information regarding finance as our financial director is unable to travel. “

The participants will receive a comprehensive and practical toolkit – the UEFA Toolbox in Football Management ‒ which contains practical templates and tools to use upon returning to their organisation.

From an administrative side, Mrs Moses says “as a devoted employee I will be in a better position to: govern, lead and plan better. I will be better versed in financial and operational management, which will be of immense help as from time to time I’m called upon to help out the accounts department. Marketing and communications is also an area which I enjoy learning about. This workshop will allow me to boost my knowledge in all these different spheres.”

The workshop which will take place at the Edward Hotel in Durban will run from March 2-5, 2022.
