President Wavel Ramkalawan accompanied by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Sylvestre Radegonde, on Wednesday paid a visit to the Seychelles embassy in Brussels.

The delegation was welcomed at the embassy by the Seychelles ambassador accredited to the Kingdom of Belgium and the European Union, Beryl Samson, for a tour of the offices and a full briefing on the operations of the embassy.

Ambassador Samson presented the delegation with an overview of how the embassy has had to adapt its operations during the Covid-19 global pandemic. Key active dossiers and priority areas for Seychelles were also discussed.

The President commended the team for the excellent work they were doing and urged them to remain connected with the realities happening in Seychelles and with the ministry so as to ensure maximum efficiency.

The visit was also an opportunity for the President and Minister Radegonde to interact with the embassy staff.

The Seychelles embassy also hosted a lunch in honour of the President in the presence of the two Belgian honorary consuls of the Republic of Seychelles – Gustaaf Van den Borne for the Flemish region and Jaques Mortelmans for the Brussels capital and Wallonia regions.

The meeting was an opportunity for the President to highlight and discuss possibility for key projects in which the honorary consuls could engage and potentially support Seychelles with.
