President meets Seychellois community in Brest |14 February 2022
Following his participation at the ‘One Ocean’ Summit in Brest, France President Wavel Ramkalawan and his delegation on Saturday met with members of the Seychellois community living and working in this region.
He was accompanied by Designated Minister Jean-François Ferrari and Minister for Foreign Affairs & Tourism Sylvestre Radegonde.
Addressing them, the President expressed pride and joy of seeing other Seychellois come together despite the distance and their willingness to play a greater role in the development of Seychelles.
“Seychelles remains your country, your homeland and it is important for all of us to make our contribution no matter where we are in the world. Everyone is welcome to share their knowledge and expertise which in return will be for the benefit of the country and our people,” said President Ramkalawan.
The meeting was an opportunity President Ramkalawan to also share progress made so far since holding the Presidency and the way forward for the continued advancement of the country.
Minister Radegonde also shared information regarding the ministry's new Diaspora policy and how Seychellois living abroad can further engage.
Speaking on behalf of the Seychellois community, Megan Le Ster née Françoise thanked the President for making the time to meet them and how honoured they are to be the first group that he meets on his first visit to Brest, France.
The President and his delegation left for Paris yesterday where he will undertake various other key bilateral meetings such as meeting with the secretary general of L’Organisation de La Francophonie and the director general of Unesco as well as engaging with other Seychellois diaspora in Paris.
