Elsia Françoise to represent Seychelles at first ever Miss Environment International Pageant |11 February 2022
Elsia Françoise will be representing Seychelles at the first ever Miss Environment International Pageant which will be held in Mumbai, India from March 21 to April 2, 2022.
The prime objective of the pageant is to promote the importance of environmental conservation.
Elsia is 19 years of age and was crowned the second princess in the Miss Seychelles National Pageant held in December 2020, organised by Beauty Empowerment Seychelles (BES).
Presently studying general management at The Guy Morel Institute (TGMI), she is also working as a senior private secretary at the Ministry of Local Government & Community Affairs.
Although quite young, she has achieved quite a lot. Leaving a trail of both academic and extra-curricular achievements, such as attained an Australian Mathematics Competition Certificate of High Distinction in 2018; was recognised as a Anse Royale secondary Wall of Fame high achiever in 2019 (it recognizes high achievers at the end of their secondary school years. Their pictures are put up in secondary schools to motivate other students).
Public speakings, quizzes, debates and poem competitions in her wake, now having completed her A-Level studies, Elsia is also a social activist, who’s colossal passion is charity work.
She is also the chairperson of the Caritas Youth Group which is a branch of the local charity organisation called Caritas. She was also the president of the School of Advanced Level Studies’ Operation Smile Club. The combination allows her to actively and positively influence the youth to give back to the community.
Constantly seeking to better herself, Elsia is now learning Italian and slowly but surely working on her first book.
However, despite being busier than most people her age, she is a more or less regular young woman who enjoys reggae music, drawing, literature and family time possibly more than anything else in the world.
Arguably one of the sharpest poets to emerge over the last 2 years, she has surely made a name for herself on the local scene, mastering what is called Slam Poetry. She has been invited to perform at several high level functions nationally.
An interesting fact about her; in 2021 she purchased a piece of land in Scotland in an effort to save our world forest by planting a tree on it. Locally she has been involved in coastal tree planting, mangrove litter clean up as well as beach clean ups as part of several outreach programmes.
In the future, she aspires to be a leader because her philosophy is a quote by Maya Angelou, “My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humour and some style.”
Currently, Elsia is in Mauritius where she attended the coronation of Miss Environment International Mauritius which took place yesterday.
A total of 12 contestants were competing for the title.
Beauty Empowerment Seychelles (BES) was approached by Freedom Events Communications LTD, which is the company that owns the Franchise of Miss Environment International Indian Ocean.
