In the spirit of sharing and caring at Christmas time, the Act of Kindness and Compassion Foundation yesterday morning donated presents to children of families who are following health programmes with the Ministry of Health.

It was at the Citizens Engagement Platform Seychelles (Ceps) conference room, Orion Mall that the gifts were distributed to the children.

There were toys for 25 children aged between 0 and 7 years coming from 20 families. Those who were present were presented with their toys by the founder and chairperson of the foundation Beryl Dodin, a counsellor at the Seychelles National Youth Council (SNYC) and from Ceps’ chief executive Alvin Laurence.

The presentation of gifts is in line with the foundation’s vision which is to inspire individuals to live in a kind and compassionate community and to demonstrate the value of sharing and the happiness it brings.

Mrs Dodin said that as Christmas is mostly for the kids, the foundation has decided to bring cheers, joy and happiness to the children from these families.

She stated that as the foundation is to promote living the values of kindness and compassion, they in turn would like the families to live and to pass on the values to other families in the communities.

“We could have chosen to donate to children in the children’s ward but we know that during this period they get a lot of visits and gifts. Our thoughts for the donation for this Christmas were towards assisting the parents in the homes,” Mrs Dodin said.

Mr Laurence called on the family members present to follow the path of the foundation and to show kindness and compassion to others so that the chain will continue to get longer for the benefit of society that loves everybody.

He also urged them to protect themselves and their family against Covid-19.

On behalf of the families, Adelle Sanguiyon thanked the foundation for thinking of them.

She noted that the gifts for the children have touched their hearts when considering that many people tend to forget that there are people suffering in the homes.

She called for the continued partnership with the foundation for the benefit of the helpless.

Expression of gratitude and wishes of Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, echoed in the conference room as the children, members of their families left very happy with their gifts.
