SPF board members bring a smile to the faces of the NEP Hospital patients |20 December 2021
Because of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the Ministry of Health has taken the very difficult decision to restrict visits to patients staying the North East Point Hospital, preventing them from seeing loved ones, especially during the festive season.
In these difficult circumstances, members of the board of trustees of the Seychelles Pension Fund (SPF) have decided to bring a smile to each patient by giving them a Christmas present.
It was board member Jose St Ange who presented principal nursing officer Marie-Antoinette Hoareau with 21 hampers – comprising nutritious products, essential for the patients’ recovery – during a small ceremony yesterday at the rehabilitation section of the hospital, in the presence of the SPF’s general manager corporate strategy Audrey Nanon, along with staff and patients of the hospital.
Mr St Ange noted that the donation has been made possible through individual contributions from all board members.
This, he said, shows their spirit of giving and sharing with others who are going through a difficult time in life.
He encouraged members of all the other local boards to follow in the footsteps of the SPF and to donate to those in need, especially during the Christmas season, bringing a smile to their faces.
There are presently 21 patients at the rehabilitation section of the hospital recovering from injuries, illnesses and surgeries.
The board of trustees of the SPF is collectively responsible for leading and directing the SPF in its activities and to work closely with management to deliver the long-term success and sustainability of the Fund.
It is guided by a Board Charter which provides a framework of good corporate governance principles that guide the activities of the SPF, strengthening the performance and advocating sound stewardship of its assets.
The members are Marc Hoareau (chairperson) Patrick Payet, Elsie Morel, Brenda Morin, Jovinella Rath, Shannon Jolicoeur, Shella Mohideen, Jose St Ange, and Sarah Lang.
