Seychelles and ASEAN to strengthen cooperation in Blue Economy |16 December 2021

President Wavel Ramkalawan yesterday received the secretary general of the Association of Southeast Asian Nation (ASEAN), Dato Lim Jock Hoi, at State House.

Mr Hoi’s visit is at the invitation of the Seychelles government through the special envoy of Seychelles for ASEAN, Ambassador Nico Barito.

Speaking to the media after the brief meeting, Mr Hoi said the meeting was a great opportunity to strengthen cooperation between the Seychelles and the ASEAN.

“We had a good meeting with the President on how ASEAN and Seychelles will be able to work together and increase our cooperation, especially in the area of the Blue Economy. Hopefully, this will be followed through. So, with the help of Ambassador Barito and the rest, we will work towards enhancing our cooperation in this very important area, including the environment,” Mr Barito stated.
