President Ramkalawan sends message on occasion of UAE’s National Day |03 December 2021
President Wavel Ramkalawan has sent a message to His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), on the occasion of the UAE’s National Day.
The President’s message reads:
“Your Highness,
“On the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of the United Arab Emirates, the government and the people of the Republic of Seychelles join me in conveying to Your Highness, the rulers and the people of the UAE our warmest felicitations and warmest wishes for your continued prosperity and progress.
“Fifty years after becoming a free and independent nation, we are reminded of the vision and legacy of the Founding Father of the Nation, the late Sheikh Zayed, which endure as the bedrock of your chosen path to further progress and development. We are also mindful of the timeless words of His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan: “Our experiment in federation, in the first instance, arose from a desire to increase the ties that bind us, as well as from the conviction of everyone that they were a part of one family, and they must gather under one leadership.” That this “experiment” has worked and withstood the test of time is evidenced by the respect that the UAE commands in the community of nations and the recognition that you enjoy as a global centre of excellence and innovation, and as a nation of peace and tolerance. The unity of the seven Emirates, under Your Highness’ leadership, serves as a constant reminder and example of brotherhood, peace and tolerance in an increasingly divided world.
"On this historic occasion, we pay tribute to your leadership and to the enterprising spirit of the United Arab Emirates. Seychelles is proud of our decades-long association with the United Arab Emirates. Ours is a relationship based on friendship and understanding, on mutual respect and shared values. It has yielded many dividends and will, I am confident, continue to do so in the future. I wish, in this regard, to assure you of my personal support, that of my government and the people of Seychelles”.
