President Ramkalawan receives Miss Seychelles 2020 Kelly-Mary Anette |06 November 2021
President Wavel Ramkalawan yesterday welcomed to State House Miss Seychelles 2020 Kelly-Mary Anette, who was recently crowned Miss Intercontinental Africa and finished as third runner-up in the 49th Miss Intercontinental pageant which took place at the Sunrise Grand Select Diamond Beach Resort in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.
When Miss Seychelles won this new title, President Ramkalawan sent her a congratulatory message telling her how she made Seychelles proud and how she is a role model for the youth.
Dressed in a hot pink dress, the new Miss Intercontinental Africa was beaming and glowing when we met her at State House.
“The President was happy and proud that a young person could put Seychelles, which is such a small island, on the international pageantry platform. This competition was not easy and the President thanked me for all the efforts I put in. In the meeting with the President, we talked about the foundation I set up which is the Maylene Hope Foundation. For sure my foundation is here to stay as this is a project I have at heart and with the First Lady Linda Ramkalawan as the patron, I am sure we will make the foundation bigger with more children. The President also assured me of his support in the foundation’s work.”
In the past, many projects started by the reigning Miss Seychelles came to an end after their reign. How does Kelly-Mary Anette intend to carry on with her service? “My foundation will keep functioning as it is close to my heart as I have been through a lot myself. I have a soft spot for semi-orphans and orphans. It is an organisation that is here to stay. As I’ve won another title, people are coming forward to help the organisation and we already have our main sponsor.”
Miss Seychelles 2020/Miss Intercontinental Africa 2021 encourages all young people to try their luck with the pageant. “If you want something and if you want to do something, it is never impossible. On my behalf I have opened the doors for Seychellois women on the international scene. I have done it which means you can do it too. So now be your own greatness.”
Once again, Seychelles NATION congratulates Kelly-Mary Anette on such an achievement and we wish her all the best.
