President meets with Seychellois community in Edinburgh |02 November 2021
President Wavel Ramkalawan, currently on overseas mission in Glasgow, Scotland to attend COP26, met with some members the Seychellois community living in Edinburgh on Sunday afternoon.
The meeting with the head of state was an opportunity for the members present to discuss how the Seychelles diaspora can contribute and play a greater role in the development of Seychelles.
Through their shared ideas, experiences and diverse technical backgrounds, they agreed that despite living abroad they can still support the development of their homeland.
“It is always a pride to meet with fellow Seychellois living abroad who still have their country at heart. We welcome anyone interested in making meaningful contributions for the betterment of our people and country. For this reason the Ministry of Foreign Affairs now has a desk dedicated to our diaspora,” said the President.
After the meeting, the members expressed how honoured they were to have met the President.
They thanked him for taking the time out of his busy schedule to meet with them and speak openly on current issues in the country.
