Sasirit Tangulrat, ambassador-designate of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Republic of Seychelles, yesterday presented her credentials to President Wavel Ramkalawan at State House.

Ms Tangulrat is the ninth Thai ambassador to be accredited to Seychelles, replacing Cherdkiat Atthakor who was accredited on February 27, 2018.

“I had a very fruitful discussion with the President. We discussed issues of bilateral cooperation which will be mutually beneficial to both countries, including our cooperation in the area of tourism, public health and of course investment. I think Thailand and Seychelles have many things in common. Both economies rely very much on the tourism industry. Since the Covid-19 pandemic has disrupted the tourism industries in both countries, I believe that Thailand and Seychelles can learn from each other how to improve the tourism industry in a more sustainable way,” Ambassador Tangulrat stated.

This year, 2021, marks the 33rd anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Seychelles, since diplomatic relations were established on July 19, 1988.

“During the past three decades, we have enjoyed very cordial relations in all areas. Not only bilateral relations, but our relations are moving beyond, towards multilateral cooperation,” Ambassador Tangulrat said.

“I just would like to say that I promise that during my term as the ambassador of Thailand to Seychelles, I will do my utmost best to further strengthen our cooperation in all areas, for the mutual benefit of the two countries,” Ambassador Tangulrat added.

During her visit to State House, Ambassador Tangulrat also called on Vice-President Ahmed Afif. She was scheduled to call on other dignitaries, namely Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism Sylvestre Radegonde, Minister for Investment, Entrepreneurship and Industry Devika Vidot, Minister for Agriculture, Climate Change and Environment Flavien Joubert and Minister for Education Justin Valentin, among others.

Ms Tangulrat will be based in Nairobi, Kenya.
