Lanka Hospital, the internationally accredited, award-winning healthcare provider in Sri Lanka, celebrated the first year anniversary of the hospital’s Medical and Speciality Centre based in Seychelles and the success achieved during its first year in operation.

Lanka Hospital is the only Sri Lankan hospital to manage its own fully-fledged medical centre in Seychelles with general practitioner services, specialist care, pharmacy and laboratory services.

The Medical and Speciality Centre in Seychelles is managed by Lanka Hospitals’ International Patient Care Services (IPCS) in Sri Lanka which has served over 8000 Seychelles patients to date, of whom nearly 500 have received specialist treatment at Lanka Hospitals in Sri Lanka.

The hospital’s Medical and Speciality Centre in Seychelles was established under the patronage of Seychelles’ Minister for Health, Jean-Paul Adam in June 2018.

“We take pride in announcing the completion of our first year of operations in Seychelles as it has been a very successful year. The Medical and Speciality Centre was established in Seychelles with the intent of offering the best healthcare services at the highest quality standards and to help enhance bi-lateral relations between Sri Lanka and Seychelles through the delivery of quality healthcare. The Medical and Speciality Centre in Seychelles will continue to serve the people of Seychelles and offer more value-added services in future,” Lanka Hospitals Group chief executive, Dr Prasad Medawatte, stated.

Lanka Hospitals’ highly distinguished Sri Lankan consultants will be serving at the Medical and Speciality Centre in Seychelles in the near future to offer specialised services in pediatrics, cardiology, orthopedics, cosmetics, neurology and dermatology. The consultants for these specialised services will be registered with the Seychelles Medical and Dental Council to offer professional care. In addition, the Medical and Speciality Centre in Seychelles for the first time will offer x-ray services from the month of September onwards.

The centre also offers laboratory services through Lanka Hospitals Diagnostics (LHD) which offers its facilities at the laboratory in Seychelles and its main laboratory in Sri Lanka.

“LHD offers over 1000 tests in Haematology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Histopathology, Cytogenetics and Flow cytometry. Patients in Seychelles now have the opportunity to have their tests carried out through LHD in Sri Lanka with rapid reporting times including email reporting facilities. At LHD we ensure compliance through guidance of the most comprehensive scientifically endorsed laboratory standards, and comply these robust standards to maintain accuracy of test results to ensure accurate patient diagnosis,” said Lanka Hospitals Diagnostics chief executive, Pradeep Edward.

“We believe that with the inclusion of more value-added services some of the burden borne by the Seychelles Hospital will be relieved, and patients will have the hassle-free opportunity to receive treatment without enduring long waiting times. Our services will also be beneficial to the corporate sector in Seychelles for their staff’s annual health screenings which can be conveniently carried out under one roof,” Lanka Hospitals head of operations and IPCS, Dr Sanjeewa Ranbadu, stated.

Lanka Hospitals is the first hospital in Sri Lanka to be awarded some of the most prestigious accreditations in the world for its healthcare service standards including the gold standard of global healthcare accreditation, Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation since 2014, and currently holds the world-respected Medical Tourism Certification from the Medical Travel Quality Alliance (MTQUA).

LHD, the laboratory arm of Lanka Hospital is the only laboratory chain in Sri Lanka to be accredited by the world’s gold standard Laboratory accreditation, the College of American Pathologists (CAP); this makes the LHD to meet clinical laboratory improvement amendments (CLIA) regulatory requirements of USA. Apart from the CAP, LHD lab is also accredited by the Sri Lanka Accreditation Board (SLAB) and the ISO:15189 accreditation, which ensures highly reliable and accurate lab reports and are a testament to the standards held by Lanka Hospitals.
