‘Food is medicine’ for the Liver
“Food is medicine”, a fitting theme for this year’s World Liver Day, which is celebrated annually on
April 19. It reminds us of the importance of choosing nutritious foods of high quality to support liver functions, promote optimal liver health and reduce the risk of liver diseases.
The aim of World Liver Day is to raise awareness about the importance of taking care of our liver. It is also an opportunity to educate people about the severity of liver diseases, how to prevent it and the importance of early detection, as most liver diseases are asymptomatic (meaning there are no symptoms). Taking care of your liver is crucial to maintaining overall health and preventing liver diseases, which can be detrimental.
