In a bid to promote gender equality and broaden career opportunities for women and girls in technical fields, a half-day workshop focusing on gender mainstreaming in the refrigeration and air conditioning sector was held yesterday at the National History Museum conference room.

Organised by the ozone unit within the Ministry of Agriculture, Climate Change and Environment (MACCE), the gender-inclusive workshop in the refrigeration and air conditioning (RAC) sector brought together lab technicians, career guidance teachers from secondary schools on Mahe and Praslin, including lecturers and students from the Seychelles Institute of Technology (SIT), with a common goal to identify and implement strategies that will encourage greater female participation in the RAC industry. This is to dismantle barriers and provide opportunities for implementing gender-sensitive practices in the work environment where everyone, regardless of gender, can thrive in the RAC sector.
