SLA opens new offices on Praslin and La Digue

Cutting the ribbon to officially open the new office on Praslin

The Seychelles Licensing Authority (SLA) opened its new offices on the inner islands last week. This comes after the need for bigger office space with more privacy for customers and the introduction of new services.

The new Praslin office located in the Pension Fund Building in Grand Anse, ex-STC Supermarket, was the first to be inaugurated. This was done by the Minister for Investment, Entrepreneurship and Industry, Devika Vidot, alongside the chief executive of SLA, Ronny Antat, in the presence of the member of National Assembly, Wavel Woodcock, and SLA and Seychelles Revenue Commission (SRC) staff who will be sharing the office.

“The new office will definitely provide larger working space and will ensure that we bring all our services in one office. Our previous office was scattered on different storeys although in the same building, in Baie Ste Anne, with some services available on the ground floor and others on first and second floors,” shared Mr Antat.

The new office comprises two cashier desks and several offices including those for inspectorates and trade and traffic officers. It is expected to give better privacy to customers; an issue which inhabitants of the inner islands often bring up. The fact that the office is found on the ground floor, falls in line with SLA‘s effort for inclusion and diversity with wheelchair ramp access.

Mr Antat also introduced a new service, which will now be available on Praslin. “Now driver’s licenses can be made on Praslin itself and this is one of the major changes the new office will bring along. Diguois can also come to prepare their driver’s licenses on Praslin instead of having to go to Mahé. This should really facilitate the inner island community.”

On La Digue, the SLA office, which was originally located in the La Digue community centre, has now relocated to the Pension Fund Building in La Passe, adjacent to the community centre.

Both offices became operational on Monday, March 4.
