Illegal engine oil dumping causes spill at Brillant bin site
The Landscape and Waste Management Agency (LWMA) is advising motorists to exercise caution when passing near one of its bin sites at Brillant, following an oil spill on Tuesday, January 6.
In a press communique issued that evening, the agency confirmed the spill was caused by a compactor operator who had “collected an illegal consignment of waste oil concealed beneath other waste. While compressing the materials, the storage containers ruptured, resulting in the spill”.
