CBS apologises to ASP clients after some payments could not be processed in a timely manner |17 July 2021

The Central Bank of Seychelles said it encountered a technical issue with the Seychelles Electronic Funds Transfer system yesterday, and as a result, some payments to Agency for Social Protection clients could not be processed in a timely manner.

The issue was identified at around 7am while payments were being processed through the Seychelles Electronic Funds Transfer (SEFT) platform and was resolved by around 9am after which normal processing of payments resumed.

Throughout the day, the Central Bank of Seychelles (CBS) worked in collaboration with the commercial banks and the Seychelles Credit Union to rectify the matter and payments were being processed at different pace, as the issue was affecting institutions differently. As at 6pm yesterday, all payments were fully processed at the Seychelles Credit Union, Bank of Ceylon, Bank of Baroda, Seychelles Commercial Bank, Al Salam Bank Seychelles Limited, Absa Bank Seychelles and Mauritius Commercial Bank (Seychelles) Ltd, while the needful was being done to complete the exercise with Nouvobanq.

CBS is investigating the system issue further in a bid to put the appropriate measures in place to mitigate any future issues. CBS also apologises to ASP clients who have been affected by this issue for the inconvenience caused.
