Takamaka Rum teams up with PURE FM to host country’s first radio only live concert |10 July 2021

Takamaka Rum has teamed up with PURE 90.6 FM radio to host Seychelles’ first ever ‘Radio Only Live Concert’.
The event, being organised in commemoration of International Rum Day, will run from midday to 6pm today.
The line-up includes Mecenary, Ion Kid, Jakim, Ras Ricky, Metis Band, Sandra, Mia, Xtra Big, Travis, Swagg Tunes, Relation Band, Fame band, Mervin Camille and Island Wave.
The 6-hour music event will run uninterrupted – with no adverts, no break or recorded music – just live music from some of the islands greatest artists allowing everyone to party safely at home or within their family units.
“Takamaka Rum plans to celebrate with the Seychelles. The day marks International Rum Day but also more importantly for this local business the start of its next chapter,” says a press release from the company.
The business recently listed on the Seychelles Stock Exchange and will be announcing shortly when shares will be available to purchase. But also the evolution in the brands look and feel with the change of the label. They also opened the Seychelles first ever continuous column molasses still at their home at La Plaine St Andre.
The local brothers, who founded the business almost 20 years ago, commented to the press last week how this marks the next stage in the journey of sharing Seychelles’ rum with the wider world.
“With Covid restrictions still in place, Takamaka Rum still wanted to do something to mark these important milestones and with large public events still not permitted – working with PURE 90.6 FM are hosting Seychelles first ever Radio Only Live Concert,” says the press release.
