Camille loses final to bring home silver medal

A silver medal is the best harvest of Sportswoman of the Year Alissen Camille at the 10th Indian Ocean Islands Games after losing the women’s singles final to Nabeeha Aminath of Maldives yesterday at the Centre de Badminton in Rose-Hill, Mauritius.

Camille lost the match 0-2 (14-21, 10-21).

The Sportswoman of the Year will also bring home a bronze medal which she won in the women’s doubles with Danielle Jupiter as partner.

The local pair lost their semifinal match against the Mauritian duo of Dookhee and Aurelie Allet 2-0 (8-21, 13-21).

Seychelles also won the bronze medal in the men’s doubles through the duo of Kervin Ghislain and Jie Luo who lost their semifinal match 0-2 against Didier Nourry and Arnaud Genin of Reunion. The set scores were 18-21 and 14-21.

The gold medal of the men’s doubles went to the Mauritian pair of Aatish Lubah and Julien Paul who beat the Reunionnais duo of Arnaud Génin and Didirer Nourry 2-0 (21-12, 21-18).

The men’s singles final was won by Reunionnais Arnaud Génin who beat Mauritian Jean-Bernard Bongout 2-0 (21-17, 21-14) to clinch the gold medal.

In mixed doubles, Mauritians Julien Paul and Aurelie Allet triumphed 2-0 (22-20, 21-14) against another Mauritian duo.

The women’s doubles title went to the Mauritian pair of Aurelie Allet and Dookhee on a 2-0 (21-18, 23-21) score against a duo from Maldives.
