Former President Michel to deliver message in support of setting up a Collaboratory for the benefit of engineering in Sids

Former President James Michelwill be delivering a video message of inspiration in support of the Institute of Caribbean Studies’ (ICS) vision for the establishment of a SMART Island Collaboratory which will be bringing together engineering, science and technology experts to address sustainable infrastructure agenda.

Mr Michel’s message will be among that of other leaders and innovators driving change and resettling the future of the Caribbean and other small island states. They will be addressing an all-day forum on critical economic and social infrastructure matters on the occasion of World Islands Day on June 7.

The chief scientific advisor to the James Michel Foundation, Dr Ameer Ebrahim, has been invited as a panelist on Research and Development Partnerships for a SMART Blue Economy.

His proficiency in Blue Carbon and Fisheries will bring great insights into the forum.

The forum is aimed at increasing the engagement of civil society in matters pertaining to sustainable management for small island developing states, and particularly, make room for a Technical Working Group of Engineers and Scientists within the Alliance of Small Island States (Aosis) institutional framework.

Seychelles was one of the founders of Aosis.
