Hon. William (left) and Mr Max

The elected member of the National Assembly for Grand Anse Mahé Constituency, Hon. Waven William, paid a courtesy call last week on the new director of the Seychelles Tourism Academy (STA), Terrence Max.

The main objective of the meeting was for Hon. William to officially, congratulate Mr Max upon is appointment as the new director of the academy.

It was also an opportunity to discuss how the Grand Anse Mahé district can collaborate with the STA in different aspects.

The Grand Anse Mahé district is extending its support to STA and to work together in promoting cultural tourism and also in promoting our heritage within the district.

These include working with the different personalities within the district in showcasing traditional Creole cuisine through Masterclass for STA students, general public as well as visitors, with STA as the facilitator, as well as keeping the cultural heritage alive by learning from our elders from the district in making Seychellois or local artifacts to our young learners at the STA.

Another area that was discussed was to support the academy through voluntary work in areas like landscaping at STA.

It was also agreed to get the department for Risk and Disaster Management (DRDM) onboard to set up some work around and outside the STA campus to protect the terraces from erosion, especially during the rainy season.

Also present at the meeting was STA deputy director, Brigitte Joubert.
