Seychelles finish fourth in men’s team event

The Seychelles men’s badminton selection finished fourth in the team event of the 10th Indian Ocean Island Games after registering only one victory and losing three out of four matches played at the Centre de Badminton in Rose-Hill, Mauritius.

The team made up of Kervin Ghislain, Steve Malcouzane, Jie Luo and Jakim Renaud lost 1-4 to the Maldives, 2-3 to Reunion, 0-5 to Mauritius, before beating Madagascar 4-1.

Hosts Mauritius won the competition’s gold medal, finishing ahead of Reunion who won the silver, while the Maldives won the bronze.

It is to note that in the team event, Seychelles did not field in a women’s team.

In the women’s group, it was Reunion who emerged as winners, ahead of Mauritius and the Maldives.

Our players will be action again today in the men’s and women’s singles competition.
